I would like to build an audio system , with car audio components ie; head unit, 4x 4inch speakers, 1x subwoofer, using a 4 channel amp and a mono-block amp. I would like to have all of this in some sort of an enclosure of course with the amp's, speakers and sub all visible. I was thinking something simple like just a box each side 500×500mm. I need some way of powering the system and i am unsure of how to do so.
There are stores like Super Cheap Auto JBHiFi etc. that have working display models of speaker, sub, amp + head unit setups that are powered somehow. Does anyone have any experience with these or know how it is done? Thanks.
I am aware of the info. in the first Q. I have installed systems in a number of different vehicles. But thanks i guess…
Car audio displays in stores are powered with DC power supplies like this one: http://store.voltelectronics.com.au/Items/16871?&caSKU=16871&caTitle=13.8V%2040A%20Switchmode%20Laboratory%20Power%20Supply
The higher the current capacity, the more expensive the supply. Looking at the fuses on your amplifiers should give you a broad idea of how much current you need.

Hi. Ive purchased one boxed Kicker 12" solo-baric subwoofer. im very confused as to what amp to buy to best suit it… plus how many channels etc.?? Also do i need the save some of the amps watts for the interiors speakers or will they run off the current cars battery?
Thanks, any help would be much appricated.
for just one sub you should get a mono block amp that means only one channel for your other speakers if you want them to sound nice over the bass you get a 4 channel amp depending on how many mid range speakers you got …not sure which model you got but i suggest that you get a kicker amp for the sub, so it could be good match
