I purchased 2 12'' subwoofers, an 2000watt amp, and some tweeters.
I drive an '03 Mustang, so is what i bought going to be a good system for my car or do i need something else?
* I have a box and wires already
It sound ok… It doesn't sound like you have any highs meaning no speakers like 6×9's… If you have only tweeters and subwoofers the voice quality isn't going to be great at all.. Your going to aheva lot of bass and clearity but no voice.. I recommend getting some of those as well

i want to get one of those really nice stereos for my car the ones that light up and everything…. and i also would like a subwoofer
i know NOTHING about subwoofer i tried googling it but its all gibberish to me….so can u tell me as much as yuou kno about subwoofers OH and can i just get any stereo i want or does it have to be a specfic one for my subwoofer
p.s. i dont need to know how to install it im goingto have someone else do it for me
The short answer then is, don't worry about it, just tell the guy installing it to give you a kicking system.
I can't tell you everything I know about subwoofers, because, frankly, you wouldn't understand most of it. Let's just say an infinite baffle is a good thing, and the waves you're looking for don't propogate properly in a box the size of a car anyway….
Basically thought, you will be running a separate amplifier for the sub, so you will need a deck that has either a sub out, or an aux out. If you have an aux out, you will also need to run that into a crossover.
If you want to go for a huge effect, look into seat shakers as well. You can run way less sub (not killing your ears) but still get the physical impact of the low frequencies, which is what most people are looking for anyway. A properly set up seat shaker will make your sub *seem* waaaaay louder, and is closer to a true sub in a car anyway.
**Edit** to counter the guy below me. DO! SKIMP ON YOUR CABLE. don't get drawn in by expensive cable (like Monster cable) Lamp cord will work fine if it's the right gauge to carry that amount electricity through it. It's the right gauge that counts, that's it, copper is copper. Don't buy the hype and the sales tactics.

The old van the day before it was written off. Only one 4000w amp powering four 15″ woofers. 153.5 @ 34Hz and over 150dB at 25Hz.

Guys whats up i have a klh500 5.0 stero it has 5 channels -only 2 work cause i had fried the other ones years and years ago so ive been stuck with 2 channels. both channels give/send out around 100-130 watts on the subwoofers. -on a voltmeter- tested.
Anyways, i have 3 12" subwoofers
1 12" sony subwoofer 90 watts with powered amp.
2 12" kicker comp subs 150/300 rms/peak watts.
problem is that i have the sony and -ONE- kicker hooked up and it sounds like they are both getting powered which they pretty much are -sony sub is fine kickers are problem- anyways when i have 1 kicker and the 1 sony hooked up it sounds ok the kicker could use more power but its ok. but when i tried to run both kickers on the same channel that didnt work cause 100 - 130 watts trying to power 300-600 watts. they are car subs hooked up to home stereo
I AM WONDERING: is there any way… i can hooke up a car amp to them or a home amp or ANYTHING i can do to get enough power to run all 3 of my subs at the same time. if so post insturctions on what to buy/get and how to hook the stuff up thanks guys id REALLY appreciate it.
NEED MORE POWER
lol later guys thanks.
When you hooked up both kickers on the same channel, did you wire them in series, or parallel? Series would have given you an 8 ohm load at the receiver, and only about 60 watts per sub. Parallel would give you a 2 ohm load, and about 120 watts per sub, BUT…. 2 ohms on your home stereo receiver would very likely burn it out in no time flat….
Have you tried just connecting each kicker to it's own channel? Then the sony is a powered unit, which means it doesn't need a speaker level input, it should have a RCA input, which you can connect to the receiver's RCA output. For outputs, use the sub output if it has it, or maybe Tape Monitor or VCR monitor or something similar.
But even still, if you give the two kickers a good 120-130 watts on their own channels, you probably won't even need the 90 watt sony, and won't even hardly notice it if you plugged it in.

ok so first of all i really dont know much about stereo systems so basicly im wondering how i can make my car sound louder…
the only thing i have is the 4 speakers and thats it..
i also want to get subwoofers but what else besides subwoofers do i need?
also i dont really want to spend much so the cheaper the better ![]()
thanks..
you will need a 2 or 1 channel amp, thats about £80
a good quality subwoofer £40
an amp wiring kit 4 gauge £25 max
you can get cheaper subs, amps and wiring kits but i wouldnt waste my time with them, not worth the hassle
