my HDTV’s stereo speakers lacks bass,so i thought of buying separate powered subwoofer to enhance bass, some of those subwoofers includes internal amplifier.if i connect this woofer to my HDTV through the audio output, does that make a 2.1 system?i mean receiving bass frequencies from TV’s output, in the mean time still hearing from TV’s speakers.or i need a middle device such as home theater or whatsoever to adjust TV’s output with subwoofer and make new sound system?actually i can’t afford home theater now,but if connecting that woofer directly to TV can cause any harm to it i won’t do that?so i need to know if that is correct or not?all i need is good bass sound i’m not into dolby or sophisticated system.just like PC’s 2.1 speakers except that i already have 2 speakers built in the HDTV and need bass power.if connecting powered subwoofer directly to TV’s output works and causes no harm to my TV i’ll do it,if not i need to know what should i do?

The auxiliary audio output jacks on a TV are intended for connection to an amplifier input, not to a speaker. For one thing, the TV’s volume control doesn’t function on those jacks–the audio output level is constant and meant to be controlled by the outboard amplifier.

There’s another technical issue called impedance matching, which is another way of saying a speaker is not a match for a connector that’s intended for something else.

Bottom line, a subwoofer really wants to be connected to an amplifier that is designed to make it work.

Currently have the power subwoofer, so would do not need to consider. Was looking at Dayton Audio surround speakers ($115 ca) and then about $235 for receiver (maybe lower Yamaha - RX 363). Ideas appreciated (HTiB also option)

$350 or less? For a home theater???

It’s called an iPod.

Hi,

I have this home theatre subwoofer. The brand name is BASS ACOUSTIC…I was told it’s called a Liquid home theatre subwoofer.Whatever the F&*K that is lol.

The problem is,it works when it wants to.But i have figured out.It doesn’t play if i have left the power switch on off for a few hours. But if i turn the power off at the power point, and leave it like that for a while(like,4weeks maybe 2months)it works, but only for a few hours than it shits itself and won’t work again.

I just wanted to ask. What the problem sounds like, would it be a cooling or heating problem?

sounds like a cold soldering problem!
the soldering on a joint has come apart and when the system warms the solder stretches and reconnects but when left to cool it opens up and stopps working!
take a look at all the wirings inside and re solder if loose
