All the fuses are fine, I have the subwoofer option turned on on the stereo, not really sure what else to check. When I shut off the car it makes a pop or thud noise. Any help s appreciated. I’m pretty sure its from walmart its a 600w Pyle, I don’t know anything about car audio.

Try hooking them up to another amp and stuff and see if the subs might be blown…other then that im not sure.

Im using a subwoofer kinda like this here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/PYLE-PRO-10-DJ-CAR-HOME-SUB-WOOFER-SUB-8-OHM-SPEAKER-/390214351499?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item5ada967a8b#ht_2076wt_911

and was wondering what is the best way to to connect it to a phono-plug subwoofer port? I have 18 guage speaker cables but i also bought basic phono plugs and well……those are just too small for 18 guage wire to fit through. is there a wire that i can connect the sub to the reciever using phono plug. Would really prefer not to plug it in to the L&R ports cus i just want bass to come out of the sub, nothing else.

also here is my reciever:

Hi,
I didn’t read all the specs. Is it the Yamaha RX-V367? When I look at the back pic at amazon, the output labeled "subwoofer" is IMO "Unamplified". It means when directly connecting it to a subwoofer speaker, it will not sound big. Though there is audio output coming from the pre-amplifier or the receiver itself, it Needs Amplification hence you need a "Powered" Subwoofer(It is called powered because there is a built-in amplifier in the subwoofer enclosure)

You have a 5.1 output receiver. All 5 outputs with speaker terminals can be connected directly to the speakers because its amplified already, while the Sub out is not.

OK here it is:
RMS Output Power (1kHz) 100W x 5
Total Power (20Hz - 20kHz) 500W (1kHz)

Base on the above, the 500W is equally divided among the 5 surround outputs. Its amplifier say 100W per channel. Since the total power is only 500W, it means the Sub out is "Unamplified"

Subwoofer Questions - Setup?

Posted by admin in pyle subwoofer

I need to know what else i need to buy with the two things i am looking to buy already.

The subwoofers are : http://www.amazon.com/Dual-BP1204-1100-Watt-Illumination-Subwoofer/dp/B000UTMDOC/ref=pd_cp_e_3
The amp is: http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-2-Channel-1400-Watt-Bridgeable-Amplifier/dp/B000CHRK6S/ref=pd_bxgy_e_text_b

I need to know what wires or gauges or whatever its called to buy and how to set up the subwoofers. If i need it profesionally done where is someone that can do it in portland oregon?

I actually have the same subs, you will be happy with them.
1) Get an amp install kit, it has everything u need to hook the subs to the amp and the amp to the battery/head unit.
Something like so
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Boss-4-Gauge-Amplifier-Installation-Kit/11968851?findingMethod=rr

2) If you have never installed an amp before go to best buy or some other audio store and have them do it for you, they will do everything professionally so it will look good, even tune that amp! It should cost you about $100

3) After you get it all installed you will be happy, but before it gets dark out do this, buy a little bit of electrical wire, 10 feet should work fine and cut it into two strands. strip the ends on the wires. Put one from the negative speaker input to the negative illuminite imput, and one from the positive speaker input to the positive illiminite input. Then wait untill it is dark out and flip the switch on the illuminite input to "on". turn the volume up a bit and the blue led’s will light up with the beat, its sick. Don’t worry about burning them out, i’ve had mine hooked up like this for 2 years and it’s fine

Okay, so i have this 1200W Pyle my friend gave me and it worked pretty good. I bought a new Amplifier, 1000W and ran it off both channels. The positive end in A and the Negative in B which made it hit harder. After awhile of use i started to notice a burning smell and then shortly after the Subwoofer quit completely. My friend told me the voice coil was burnt in it. What can i do to fix this..? I have basically no knowledge about sound systems and voltages i just know how to hook them up.

sorry but your subwoofer is done. high end subwoofers can be reconed but you could buy a new subwoofer cheaper than the recone.

i have an rca home theater system with a subwoofer that isnt really that powerfull, the rest of the system is loud its just the subwoofer isnt enough for me, so im getting a memphis 15" 500watt subwoofer and putting it in a custom box, also i know i need an amplifier for it and i found a pyle that on 4 ohms puts out 550watts and my question is about hooking up the reciever to the amp
okay, so the amp has only rca inputs for your auxilery audio and in the back of my reciever it has a subwoofer output which is just the speaker wire clamps for the stock woofer, it also have one purple colored rca looking subwoofer output, now, would i plug an rca from that output into one of the rca inputs on the amp? also heres another way i came up with
using the wire clamp outputs and getting a speaker wire to rca plug and plugging one of the rca’s speaker wire side into the woofer out on the reciever and the rca into the amp
whats the best way?
i will provide all links below

please help me

Without looking at all the pictures, here’s my best guess and a way that will work for you. The output from the home theater system sounds like it has "speaker level" output from it. and the amp is requiring "line level" input to it. I’m not sure what the single output would be, the purple one you are referring to, but you can simply get a speaker level output to line level converter and that would work for you. There not to expensive, typically under $40. I would try to use the purple connection first and just see what happens. I’m pretty sure it’s not going to damage anything if you hook it up, it probably will either work or not. You seem to have some savvy with what you are doing, so check the specs on this purple jack and if that doesn’t work, you can always convert the output to what you need.
Good luck
