Okay i dont know much about the technical details of subwoofer wiring. I have a Coustic 400 watt amplifier. The manual says 401DB/801DB then inside says…401DB(1X200 watts for 4 ohm)801DB(1X400 watts for 4 ohm). Then for 2ohm 1X400 watts, 1×800 watts. Im trying to hook a 12" JL audio subwoofer to it, it has Dual voice coils. how should i run the speaker wires?? I tryed hooking it up by connecting the + to + on the subwoofer coils, - to - then ran the positive from the sub to the positve of the amp, and the negative of the sub to the negative of the amp. The sub powered on with some bass but very little, it would make a weird noise and it wasnt barely even moving like it should. I had a 12" Punch subwoofer single coil hooked up to this amplifier, it pounded hard but after a few weeks blew(i bought this whole system off someone mind you) when i removed the subwoofer from the box the idiot had ran electrical wire to the subwoofer without any connectors. I am thinking this is the reason my sub fryed, my amp seems to be working fine though. The green idicator light is on and good, i can’t figure out why my JL isnt hitting though.
Obviously you didnt read my question and what i wrote, i know black is negative/red positive that isnt the issue, my subwoofer isn’t producing bass like it should. Keep the smart remarks off here
JL Audio 12W3v2-2
12" 600W Dual 2-Ohm Subwoofer
Thanks, ill give it a try tomorrow and post how it works out.
k for a dual 2ohm sub on that amp because its not 1ohm stable amp you will have to hook it up in a 4ohm load, connect the positive from 1 coil to the negative of the other coil, then connect the other positive and negative to the amp terminals, should look like this http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/1DVC_2-ohm_mono.jpg
